Does digital "DAB" radio work in Sutton?
I was thinking of purchasing a digital "DAB" radio... Apparently DAB coverage is patchy at the moment, so I was wondering if a signal could be received in Sutton.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has successfully/unsuccessfully used a DAB radio in Sutton.

Hello Mark,

My Husband has a DAB radio and we live in Glusburn, so i am pretty sure that yours will work in Sutton as Sutton will connect to the same mast as Glusburn!

Hope I hve been of Help! :-)

I know this is a bit late but it works fine in Victoria street. Unlike freeview or does anyone know any different?

Thanks folks for your responses.... It appears that DAB radio is available throughout Sutton.

David, you mention Freeview TV. There is good news and bad news on this front, depending on where you live in Sutton.

Traditionally, most homes receive their TV signal from the Sutton transmitter located above the village at Crag Nook Delph. Unfortunately, according to the Government website, this is one of the last transmitters to be switched over to digital (ie, Freeview) with work scheduled to commence on 1st Sept 2011.

However, a considerable number of Sutton homes can receive Freeview from the Keighley transmitter... providing that you are in line of sight with it. The Keighley transmitter is located on the hillside above Keighley Golf Club. As a very rough rule of thumb (and don't quote me on this!) if your live below the Kings Arms pub (towards Crosshills and Sutton Mill area) or behind the Kings Arms (towards Hazel Grove area) then you should be able to receive Freeview. If you live on High Street or above (ie, under the Ellers or near Sutton Clough) then chances are you will not be able to receive Freeview. You can do a simple check to see if any of your neighbours are receiving Freeview... if their TV aerial is pointing in the general direction of Eastburn, then chances are they are getting Freeview.

To maximise your Freeview signal, it helps to have a high gain aerial mounted as high as possible, with good quality low loss cable (as shorter run as possible).

I hope this helps.

I bought a DAB radio a few months ago - it did not work (Hall Anenue). If you buy get an agreement to return it it does not work!
