Bats around Manor Way
Has anyone seen the bats which used to fly nightly around the Manor Way area since the old engineering works at Low Fold was demolished?

I live on Manor Way and hadn't really thought about it until I read your post but I haven't seen any for a weeks now.

I used to see them regularly a dusk for an hour or so but it does appear they have moved on.

We live not far from there (Rosemount Court) and we are still seeing lots of bats in the evening.

I live near this development and haven't noticed any bats so far this year. I'll keep an eye out as it may just be my lack of observance as we usually have them most evenings.

The common pipistrelle is the bat we see most of in this area, it's main winter roost is in the air conditioning ducts of Airedale spring and summer it ventures out into the surrounding areas to enlarge its feeding territory and to find nest sites. Allan Green's engineering works was an ideal place to roost now its gone so have the bats. other old buildings in the same area have also disappeared.
As long as we have grass , trees and water, we will have midges and fly's and "pipistrelle's" somewhere
close by.
