Neil Palfreman

From Denis Pickles

I was sad to read in the Craven Herald that Neil Palfreman had died aged 84yrs. Neil and I spent time together as youngsters playing cricket and football in the park and later in the YPF. I found this photograph of Neil (front right) together with Roy Hudson, Jack Moseley and Keith Riddiough. It would have been taken near Winton, Cumbria during one of the Easter Retreats which were enjoyed by so many local boys and girls, probably around 1950. This is how I remember Neil.

I am saddened to read this post about the passing of Neil. I knew Neil from the late 1970s when he and his wife ran the Junction Pub at Crosshills for several years. He was good-natured, easy to get along with and always welcoming. That's the lasting memory of Neil he impressed upon my mind. With sincere sympathy to his family, RIP Neil.
