Final chance to comment on housing sites in Craven’s draft Local Plan

Craven District Council is launching a final consultation on housing sites in the draft Local Plan.

The consultation begins on Friday July 22 and will run for four weeks.

The consultation documents on emerging preferred sites takes into account more than 2,000 comments from the public, developers, and public bodies made on the pool of site options during the recent eight-week consultation.

Any new or further information from this consultation will feed into the final report on housing sites to be included in the Publication Draft Local Plan, which will go to the Spatial Planning Committee, Policy Committee and Full Council in September.

The Craven Local Plan sets out how land should be used in the future to achieve economic, environmental and social goals. Policies in a local plan will be used to decide planning applications including housing, retail and employment uses up to 2032.

Once the Publication Draft Local Plan is published for formal consultation, comments or representations should only relate to the tests of soundness and other legal requirements, rather than its content.

The plan will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Examination in December 2016 and the representations submitted on the Publication Draft Local Plan will then be dealt with by an independent inspector during the Examination in Public.

The new consultation documents of maps showing the emerging preferred housing sites and accompanying supporting information will be available on Craven District Council’s website at www.cravendc.gov.uk/newlocalplan from Friday July 22.

Hard copies of the consultation documents will also be available to view at Craven District Council Offices, Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton BD23 1FJ. The Council Offices are open 8.45am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4.45pm on a Friday. Copies of the consultation documents and feedback forms can also be viewed in libraries at Skipton, Cross Hills, Embsay, Settle, Bentham and Ingleton, and via the mobile library service. Completed feedback forms can be sent to localplan@cravendc.gov.uk or posted to the council using the address above.

Unbelievably, SC040 Land south of Sutton Lane is on the plan as a PREFERRED development site - despite being previously rejected by councillors and the decision upheld by the planning inspectorate.

And no sign of Yeadon House (brownfield) being put forward.
