Chris Akrigg cycling on Earl Crag
Earlier this year, legendary dare-devil mountain/trials biker Chris Akrigg went up Earl Crag to make a video of his jaw-dropping exploits. Things didn't quite go to plan and he fell off the top, landing 40' below and sustaining serious injuries.

Chris was rescued by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Calderdale Fell Rescue team and the story was featured on "Helicopter Heroes" on BBC1 TV this morning. The programme is currently available on BBC iPlayer at the link below...

Helicopter Heroes: Series 5: Episode 2

The resulting video made by Chris can be viewed at this link...

Geez and I thought we were a bit mad in winter, trying to sledge down the hills behind Crag farm aiming to go through the sheep gaps built in to the stone walls!!

This story was featured on Countryfile on BBC1 last Sunday, along with an item on the Pennine Way showing Ickornshaw Moor and Cowling. If you missed it the programme is available on the BBC iPlayer for the next three days.
