photos from Ravenstones
Thanks Bill for the great before and after photos - the progression is evident, but, some of the streets still exist, especially the ones from North Street, alongside the 'Sandpark' - For someone like me who has been away since 1961 it is especially pleasing to see the before and after in such clarity. As an ex Burler and Mender at Bairstows, I can clearly pick out the windows of the mending room, overlooking the cricket ground, a favourite spot to eat lunch on a good day.

Yes, the photos are fabulous, showing the wonderful green approach to our village. Once again, this is now under threat of development again.
In the Craven Herald this week, there is reference to a new consultation document on preferred planning sites - you can find it here http://www.cravendc.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=7794&p=0
Page 32/33 refers to Sutton - from the surveys done, we need 5 houses per year apparently, so two possible sites have been proposed, including all three fields off Sutton Lane in front of Ravenstone Woods.
In earlier years, just one field was set to hold around 55+ houses - this application was fought and won, partially on the impact it would have to the approach to the village, and the natural gateway that exists currently. Goodness knows how many they're thinking would go on this land.
I don't yet know anything more about when/if the public get consulted on this, but people, get ready to defend again!
