New photos in the gallery, help needed with names
I've just added some new photos to the gallery of Mrs Bishops class c1964, Miss Capstan's class c1961 and some Bairstow's mill girls c1960. If anybody can provide any missing names, or the photos bring back any memories, please let me have details and I'll update the captions.

Paul,
I have just been looking at the photo of Mr. Kitchen's class. Two names are incorrect. It is Peter Simons and not Brian, and it is Peter Wetherill not Edward. The latter was known as "Teddy" because of his cuddly appearance. He was a larger than average character who has sadly passed on.

Re the photograph entitled 1956 Teacher Miss Hoosen.
I believe the names of the students are:

Back row L-R.
- - Peter Normley, Ian Brown, Stuart Mackenzie, - David? Town, John Dickinson, John? Laycock, Keith Blower, Mr Laycock.

Third row L-R.
- - Janet, - Margeret Riddiough, Claire? Fraser, - - Alioson French, Susan Thomas,-

Second row.
Lyn Harper, Yolande Towers, Claire Tennant, Marion Simmons, Evelyn Markham, Susan Brown, - - Jackie Spindler, -

Front row.
Jimmy Mckie, Robert Hopkinson, Tony Robertson? Melvin Marchant, Dennis Cooper, -

Of course I'm willing to be corrected but this is my best recollection.

The same people with a few additions appear in the photograph for the Miss hoosen's class for the following year.
Best regards
Stuart

My ancestors lived for several generations as yeomen farmers in this area. I was intrigued to see that one of the boys named in the photo of Mr. Kitchen's class had the same name as me. I am almost certain that we are distantly related, as 'Frank' or 'Francis' was a very common Christian name among the Stirks. (My grandfather was Francis Joseph Stirk of Addingham.) Would anyone know what happened to this 'other' Frank Stirk and if he might still be living in the area? Thanks. (May late parents moved to Canada, where I now live,)

Hi Frank - have you read through the pages in the history section?

The History of Steeton page refers to members of the Stirk family including Francis Stirk born 1728, and chapter 30 of the 1927 History of Sutton also refers to a Francis Stell.
