Sutton Clough
Can't believe that today is the first time I have ever been to Sutton Clough - how lovely, it is a credit to whoever looks after this beautiful area! Is it privately owned, or maintained from your council tax precept? Sutton Park was very busy, and looked in very good order also - today's beautiful weather must have brought everyone outside!

Hi Joan. From memory, the Clough was part of Sutton Hall Estate and was bequeathed to the village by the Hartley family (mill owners). It is managed by the parish council and maintained by the park-keeper.

Thanks for info. - will take a look at my Sutton books to find out more. There are lots of lovely places near to home still to discover - credit crunch hols? Years ago
my Dad, brother and parents used to spend their holidays in their little hut on Ickornshaw Moor - we have lots of photos which show what a super time they had!
