From the Vicar:

I retire this month after being Vicar of Sutton for the past seventeen years.

I have very much enjoyed living and working in Sutton. I shall be sad to leave – but take with me very happy memories of a great community and wonderful people – many who have become friends.

Through these pages of the Village Website, I’d like to invite anyone who wants to, to come to my final Service which is next Sunday, 14th September at 10.30am in St Thomas’s Church. It would be a joy to see you there. A buffet lunch will be held afterwards in the Village Hall.

Gail and I, and the good folk of this community will miss you on your retirement. The family Cowgill have been true friends of Sutton for 17 years enhancing the principal and meaning of "true friendship" (AMOS 3:3 KJV). I am sure we and all in the community have valued and, hopefully, will continue to value the warm friendship enjoyed over the last 17 years, and for many years yet to come. Heartfelt thanks and with every good wish for the future. Stephen , Gail, and our children ,Mark and Fiona.

Thank you for the many cards, gifts, emails and phone calls wishing me good luck in my retirement. Thanks to all who came to my final service at St Thomas's and the buffet lunch afterwards - and particularly your support and friendship over the past 17 years.
We shall retire to Steeton. God bless you all.

Hi Michael
Sorry you are going and sorry we couldn't make your final service in Sutton (sadly my father passed away).
Thank you for being part of our village life and I doubt any replacement will be able to boogie as well as you can to the Rolling stones!
With kind wishes
The Bielby's
