Retirement from the shop
Gail and I are leaving the shop at 30 Main Street, Sutton on Wednesday 17th September, our last trading day being Tuesday 16th September. We are entering retirement in our new home, 38 Manse Way, Sutton. Thanks a million to all our loyal customers over the last 30 years, and to all our very dear friends. Over those 30 years, 10,920 days, 174,720 work hours, our shop door has opened and closed 4,368,000 times, selling 819,000 bottle of milk, 78,000 bananas, and we have found 3 babies in pushchairs and 7 dogs left outside the shop. We have also had 5 unsuccessful robberies and 3 staff assaults and 2 customer had their cars stolen whilst left running outside the shop. Millions of memories some bad but the majority superb. Must write a book in my retirement! Thank you all for 30 very happy years, and all the best to Jazz who will run the store 17th September onwards.

September is a good month to retire!
Many thanks Gail and Steve for all you've done to serve the people of Sutton and area - and not just in the shop. I wish you a long and happy retirement. You both deserve it.
