THANK YOU FOR A GREAT WEBSITE
I found the Sutton-in-Craven website earlier this year.
As an old Suttonian, now living over the border in Lancashire, I have spent many happy hours looking at and contributing to the forums.
Some of the topics have brought happy memories and I've also shed a tear or two.
Just to say thank you to Paul, the webmaster and all the contributers for providing a wonderful online experience.
Wishing all Suttonians, past and present, a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Thanks again,
Duncan

I would like to add my thanks too. Even though I left Sutton as a small girl in 1947 and now live in Vancouver, Canada, I really enjoy this site as it brings back memories of my parents' recollections. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all in Sutton and the surrounding area and to all the contributors to this site wherever they may live.

And so say all of us ...............

Lynda, I'm afraid that I don't remember you, Where did you live prior to making your getaway? But there were a few Sutton families who headed west to Canada after the war. My best friends and next door neighbours in Hazel Grove, the Wilcock's, did just that - they left for a new life in Canada with their parents. After more than 60 years I am still regularly in touch with the various branches of the family. I visited Brian in Vancouver [Burnaby actually] more than once. I seem to remember that the Tingles lived not too far away from him - aren't you some relation?

Hi Denis:
I lived at 29 Gordon Street in Sutton and emigrated to Canada in October 1947 when I was almost 4 years of age with my parents, Connie and Frank Phillips, and my maternal grandfather, George Tingle, to Canada. Edwin Tingle, my uncle, and his wife Flo, and sons George and Bayne, also lived in Sutton and emigrated to Canada around the same time. We all ended up in Vancouver in the early 1950s. My parents were members of the Sutton Baptist Church and my mother was related to Alice Snookes. I still have friends in Cross Hills, Doreen Smith (nee Sharp) and her family and an Aunt and Uncle on the Phillips side who used to live in Silsden but now live in Gargrave. My husband is from Manchester and has family there so we visit England every couple of years. Happy New Year.
