Dog Fouling
I do not know who agrees with me on this but I personally think that dogs should be banned from Sutton Park. I went in today and noticed two piles of dog dirt within 2 and a half hours! I find this disgraceful! I do not think people should get away with letting their dogs foul the park when children play there. Take a look at Cononley and Lothersdale park. They are beautiful and guess what, dogs are not allowed in! Sutton could be better than them if only dogs were banned. Please reply if you have anything to say about this subject. I am sorry if you own a dog and you are totally innocent.

Hi Kim,

Yes dog fouling is disgusting, not just in the park but on our streets as well.

There are many responsible dog owners in Sutton who I regularly see using the disposable plastic gloves to clear up their own dogs' mess.

However there are a minority of owners (as everywhere!) that don't care.

Hi,
I agree it is disgusting.
Is there any way we could get a ban on dogs from the park so that our children can walk without having to dodge? Or if not could we have some dog pooper patrol please?
I love dogs, just hate irresponsible owners.

I can’t say I ever remember seeing any canine critters roaming the park when I lived in Sutton. Weren’t they prohibited at one point from entering the park, or were they supposed to be kept on a leash ?

The only dog (in inverted comma’s) I remember seeing in the park was after the gates were locked at night – ex-park keeper Brian Middleton’s ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’.

This beast would emerge from the shadows and launch itself at innocent pedestrians with only the railings separating IT from them. The unexpected suddenness of its ferocious bark and sound of its teeth gnashing, coupled with the silhouette of it spread-eagled vertically half way up the railings was enough to triple the amount of faeces you guys are seeing in the park these days !

Same problem in Cowling Rec. -but some residents class their recreation as "dog-walking" - am told the dog bin emptier van will only empty from bins which are on the main road, and won't go into parks, also surprised to hear from Env. Health Dept. that if dog bins are full, it is ok to put poo bags in ordinary bins? Hope I have got that one wrong?
