Postal address
When on holiday when asked where I live I always say Sutton-in-Craven Nr Skipton, and get the reaction " what a nice area in which to live" thinking about it what a difference it would make if our postal address was Nr Skipton North Yorkshire,I bet it would put a few pound on our house values.

I have wondered about this. How come our postal address is West Yorks, near Keighley, yet we pay taxes to North Yorks?

On a similar subject, does anybody know if the mail is being delivered as normal today (Tuesday 2nd) or is it still a bank holiday for them?

When Sutton was moved out of the West Riding and into North Yorkshire in 1974 the postcode system was already in place and post for Sutton was routed via the sorting office in Keighley - this is still the case today. From a tax point of view, since the 1974 boundary changes the parishes of Sutton and Sutton Mill have been part of the the South Craven District of North Yorkshire.
