SENSATIONAL MARY BARCLAY BAND - COMING SOON - 15 NOVEMBER 2008
Just a note to let folks know a bit of background re the Sensational Mary Barclay Band coming to play in the village hall on Saturday 15 November 2008 which you may have seen advertised on posters around the village.

I moved from Sutton in the early 90's to South West Scotland and have remained here ever since. Mum and Dad still live in the village and brother and sister not far away. I left Sutton County Primary in 77 and South Craven in 84.

The band hail from Dalbeattie (15 miles from Dumfries) and have performed throughout the UK at concerts, festivals, pubs and private functions including some formula 1 after race parties.

With their recent material they have recently won the prestigous song-writing competition Burnsong 'The Gathering'.

It is hard to put their own music into any specific category - the best way to describe it is a mix of guitar-driven rock, blues, pop, country and folk - a little bit of everything. Given that the band's influences include Joni Mitchell, U2, the late great Rory Gallagher and, obviously Alex Harvey, you know you are going to hear some fantastic music.

Family and friends from Sutton and around have travelled to South West Scotland to see the band perform and thought it would be great for them to come South.

If you want to see/hear more please do look at their website with links to youtube and so on www.sensationalmarybarclayband.com.

Hope to see some local support for the group and look forward to seeing some familiar faces.

If you want to know more please do respond in the forum - I'll keep an eye out over the next week.
