Richard and Jane Widdop (Widdup) are mentioned in Robin Longbottom's excellent article 'The Life and Times of Stubbing Hill' in the history section.

Thanks to Joan for letting me know this photo had been posted and thanks to Tony for posting it. This is James Widd(u)p and family, the census has the surname mis-spelled. James is my great, great grandfather and I have a couple of photos of him and his family. His son Normal married Annie Greenwood and I have their wedding photo, and a photo of their three sons - one of whom is my grandfather, the late Cedric Greenwood Widdup, a colourful character by any measure.
If anybody is interested I could post the photos.

I remember Cedric telling of a photo with James posing at the wheel of a car. Once the photo had been taken James got out refusing point-blank to ride in it! Cedric was born in West View, the part that used to be the Chippy. I'm not sure when James lived at black Lane Ends but understood he had a haulage business at some point.

Thanks again for the photo and prompt, it's reignited my interest in my family history.
