Putting team circa. 1945-47.
I have just been once again down memory lane. I think that I can identify two of the team. The tall gentleman three in from the right on the back row looks like Mr. Edward Harrington, Mill Manager. The gentleman in the middle with the dog collar I think is the Reverend Bloyce Smith? (He took his own life on "The Gibb" shortly afterwards.) No doubt there are those out there I hope, who will correct me if I am wrong.

Alan,

It'll be a just a year since you last wandered down this stretch of memory lane. The short term memory is not as reliable as long term memory when you get to our age, is it? But you didn't mention Uncle Bob this time. He used to be the organist at Cowling Middleton church - and he was a good pianist too! He used to rehearse Brian and Peter Wilcock and myself prior to our carol singing [begging] sessions to the Bateman's and Chaffers 'big houses'. We sang 'We Three Kings of Orient are' - three solos, all the verses! We didn't give short measures in those days. Uncle Bob was a pigeon fancier too. In 1939 Lowcock and Pickles, Sutton Homing Society, achieved the distinction of having their entry in the News of the World Annual big race from France, come third! .... so legend has it!

Paul,
Thanks for adding the names. I had forgotten that I had already been on the walk -about once before.
