Sutton Pharmacy
Hi Everyone.
As you will all be aware a new pharmacy has opened in Crosshills. A loophole in the system has allowed this, as normally chemists can’t open anywhere as they would force those in small villages to close down. Also Crosshills Health Centre are planning on opening an additional pharmacy inside the health centre in the coming months.

We need the support of everyone in Sutton. A local pharmacy in Cowling has already been forced to close down due to the new pharmacy. We are appealing to everyone in Sutton to continue bringing their prescriptions to Sutton Pharmacy. If you live in Sutton and currently use another pharmacy, we would request you to bring your prescriptions to us in the future. Please encourage all your family members and friends too.

We would like to make you aware that no pharmacy or doctor can force your prescriptions to a particular pharmacy without your consent. You have free choice so if your prescriptions are sent/ dispensed by another pharmacy, please ask for them back to bring to Sutton Pharmacy. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
• PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THE PHARMACY IN CROSSHILLS
Thanks

I hope your pharmacy does not suffer because of the additional chemists in Crosshills - it does seem strange to have 3 within such a small distance. I will support our Sutton chemist.

Hi Shahid,

We have had a chemist in Sutton for as long as I can remember, and when I saw that a new chemist is being opened accross the road from the Doctor's surgery I was very surprised. You have my support and I will continue to use Sutton chemist, hopefully most people will think the same and support you.

Thanks.
The law was changed to allow supermarkets to open pharmacies in their stores. The exemption for them was that they had to open 100 hours per week. Unfortunately certain people used this loophole and used it to to apply for pharmacy contracts nearer health centres where the most financial benefit is. This is whats happened in this case. This chap has indicated that he will open 100hours per week so the contract has been granted.
Unfortunately the government failed to address this issue that if new pharmacies are allowed to open near the health centres, all the village/ community pharmacies farther out will eventually close as they cant compete. Some of these people, like ourselves, have been working for the community for many years. We've built up the business over 10 years and it seems unfair someone just jumping in without paying a penny.
Anyway, thats my moan for the day....We will do our best as we always have done and hope for the best. Thanks again

You have all the luck down there? We are coming down to Sutton pharmacy (if needed) and the Post Office also on a regular basis. We have very few facilities up here these days, and yet they are always wanting to build us more houses?

Hi. They are supposed to open 100 hours / week but the PCT (health authority) dont check up on this unless they have concern. So if any one spots this pharmacy not open during its required opening hours then please let us know or let PCT know. He is supposed to open 8am-1030 pm 7 days a week.
Thanks again everyone for your support.

I personally think everyone is getting rather childish with this Pharmacy. I have to say that this is one thing this area needs, a late night parmacy. It saves all the problems of finding a late night pharmacy, and getting there.

I have used this chemist a few times and have to say the qaulity of service is better then any of the other local chemists in this area.

The public have the right to go where they want to fill there perscriptions or get medical advice, and I think it is unfair for Sutton Pharmacy to be using this site to complain about the Chemist in Crosshills.
