Local Plan - Leaflet Drop - IMPORTANT
Dear All

we've started to drop leaflets around the village to alert people to the consultation period for the Local Plan. What has become very worrying is that people either don't know about it, or are confused as to what it all means, which is disappointing as it means Craven District Council haven't done a very good job at explaining it.

So, please, anyone who reads the forum, please pass on this information to everyone they know!

The Local Plan has been under development for the past 7 years, it allocates land where houses and employment premises will be built over the next 15 years. This means that any land that is allocated under the Local Plan is seen as a "preferred" site to be built on.

During a consultation period last summer, about 5 people suggested that the fields off Sutton Lane (site SC40) would be a good place to build - that's just 5 people out of around 1500 households in Sutton! So, not exactly a good basis to decide that it is "preferred"!!! This site is currently allocated for another 75 houses.

Giving your views on the Local Plan is your chance to say what you think of house building on this (or any other) site within Sutton, and suggest alternatives if you have some.

The Local Plan is supposed to allow local residents to put their views forward, to protect green spaces that are important to them, and gives us all a voice to decide how our community will look in the future.

Just wandering around the village yesterday, I can see how passionate people are about preserving Sutton, so please, I urge you, have your say and comment on the Local Plan.
