Signs
Having just walked my dog along Wet Ings Lane, it would seem that Craven District Council has a surplus of signs/notices. In the stretch between Ellers and the point at which Wet Ings becomes Gaterings (150-200 yards?) there are now 14 signs attached to the railings - some only 5 yards apart - exhorting us not to let our dog foul the pavement/if it does, pick it up/you are on CCTV/do not drop litter. The irony of the last one obviously escaped the brain of whoever attached them - surely that number of signs in such a short space itself constitutes litter!

I'd hardly regard signs as litter.

If there is a sudden appearance of many signs it's possible that local residents have had to put up with dog filth being left and have either requested the signs or erected them personally.

I'd happily welcome more signs if it stops the nuisance of dog filth.

I walk my dog at least 5 times a week along Gaterings/Wet Ings, and have rarely seen dog faeces - certainly not enough to justify the plethora of signs that suddenly appeared a few weeks ago. I endorse any comments regarding the unacceptable practice of not cleaning up after your dog, there are many places around the village where such signs could have been more appropriately exhibited - Bridge Road for example - hence my original post.

That’s not a mystery! What’s puzzling is why we don’t see any white dog poo any more. On that nostalgic theme what happened to whistling, cream on milk and walking around with your hands in your pockets? These are the big meaning of life questions.

White dogs don't poo now - they have built-in anaerobic digesters. I'm always whistling to recall my (brown) dog, the blue top milk from Lyon farm has cream on the top, and my hands are in my pockets to keep my trousers up!
You really must get out more Steven!
