Greetings from USA
Good morning. I have been researching family history for the PETTY's for quite some time now, and recently found a connection to this name in your area. Consequently, I have begun reading about your area to add context to my family, and imagine my delight at finding this website with all of your interesting color comments.

My gggg grandfather was a Christopher PETTY who was born in Kildwick in the 1740's or so. Married for the first time to a Martha CLOUGH, also of Kildwick, they parented Richard PETTY (my ggg grandfather) there in Sutton-in-Craven in 1771. He married Grace GREEN, born in Glusburn. They parented Thomas PETTY (my gg grandfather) in 1809 in Sutton-in-Craven. He married Anne TATHAM of Carleton-in-Craven. It appears that they moved to Pilkington in Lancashire soon after they wed in 1834. Their first child was christened in the parish church there in Kildwick in 1834, but that was the last record of them I found in the area. So for at least 2 generations I can find my family resided there in your lovely area.

All of this simply to say hello to you, and thank you for the interesting website. If anyone happens to have information about my family, or can refer me to additional information about the area and its history, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your patience in reading my lengthy, and probably uninteresting account.

Hello Mark,
Welcome to the forum.
It isn't an uninteresting account for me since I have a Thomas Petty, born Sutton 1809, and married to Anne Tatham, born Carleton in Craven 1812, in my family tree. If you contact Paul, the webmaster, he will let you have my email address. Get in touch and I'll send you more information.

Hi. I saw the name PETTY mentioned here and I was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of a Barbara PETTY who was alive and living in the area in 1913 or is a relative of her?

Did I originally help you out with some Tatham queries from Carleton, if so could you please email as I have indexed the church registers. Original emails were deleted by mistake, I know silly me, its caused havoc, the brain cells can't remember everyone who has been in touch.
