Photographs of the Preston family.
Once again I have to thank someone for putting photographs on the Sutton website. These are photographs of relatives on my mother's side of the family. They brought back memories of individuals that I had almost forgotten about. It explains how my cousin Lily Preston, my uncle Tom's eldest daughter, came to be named and after who. Margery Preston was Alan Catterall's mother and whilst I knew that we were related somewhere along the line, I never really knew just how close, she being my mother's cousin. No 6 Gordon Street was where Alan was brought up.
Where do the persons responsible for sending these photographs from the other side of the world fit in to the Preston family, do they possess any more photographs similar? Please would you pass my e mail address on to them Paul and if they would get in touch I would appreciate it very much.

Hi Alan, I wondered if there might be a connection to the "Grandad Preston" photo that Denis submitted a while ago. I'll forward your details on to Ken and Eileen in New Zealand. Paul

Hi Alan. Your grandad, Marshall Preston and Robert Preston were brothers. They both were woolsorters. both born in Farnhill. There is a very strong likeness between Marshall and Robert isn't there?

Thanks Paul,
I had forgotten that Denis had submitted the photograph of Grandad Preston but when I look at both and compare them it is obvious that they are brothers. I would dearly like to see any other photos that Ken and Eileen might have and be willing to share. Now that Denis is also on board he might have some that would be of interest to them. This really is something that I would not have learned had the computer not been invented. Thanks again for setting up the village website.
