Sergeant Arthur Saville of Cowling - WW1.
Searching through old scrapbooks - and found cutting about Serg. Arthur Saville of Cowling who enlisted for the Duke Wellingtons on 16th Sept. 1914 as a private, then lance cpl., corporal and finally sergeant when he died 22nd Sept. 1916 age 22 (according to CWGC site.)
He was the son of Lydia Brooke nee Saville, and J.W. Brooke stepfather, of Cleckheaton at the time of his death.
Would like to add Arthur to my Cowling WW1 and 2 lists and albums made a few years ago - 59 Cowling men WW1 and 10 WW2. There is also a photo and Arthur looked very much like Jack and Sam Saville from Cowling, - also Savilles with Sutton connections I think? Any information welcome, thanks.

Now contacted a member of Saville family, and think there has been some sort of a mixup with both the war and local news reports at the time - but still a mystery as yet. Thanks.
