Sutton Cricket Club Pavilion!
Please HELP raise money to fund a new pavilion for Sutton Cricket Club, sponsorships and any donations will be much appreciated, Sutton Cricket Club has already a fantastic ground to play on but with a new pavilion it can make the club even greater.
Sutton Cricket Club feel the pavilion will attract not only new players to the club but will also catch the eye of league officials to hold cup final events.

The club has already 1st and 2nd teams playing in the JP Mewis Craven League and junior teams including under 13's,15's and next year will have an under 17's team.

If you wish to make a donation or have any queries, do not hesitate to email us.

Chris, Simon and Steven,
You would never make a living from begging. WHO DO WE SEND THE MONEY TO?
Best of luck with your venture. The old pavilion looks as though a facelift is about due. Keep up the enthusiasm and win all before you.

Chris, Simon and Steve have highlighted that Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club is in need of 21st Century facilities.
The Club has secured a 99 year lease on the field and has embarked on an ambitious development programme to achieve these facilities. A 5 year Development Plan is ready for submission to the Yorkshire Cricket Board and the necessary changes are being implemented to ensure that they can reach Club Mark Accreditation standard. This prepatory work is essential in order to be able to start to apply for Grants etc.
In order to succeed funding is needed from many sources including 'going round with the begging bowl' and this is just starting.
Donations will be gratefully recieved and cheques should be made out to 'Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club' and sent to :- Mr. A. Fountain, 36, Park Avenue, Sutton-in-Craven, BD20 7JH.
Help is needed with the organisation of fund raising events etc and if you are interested in joining in and ensuring that our great grandchildren will be able to continue to play on a field that has seen cricket there for over 100 years please contact me or the Club Secretary.
Alan.

Alan,
Thanks for your cheque, it's gone in the bank but we need many more people to join in before we will reach our Pavilion Target.
The Club has created a Social Membership status and we have signed up about 20 non players at a subscription of £5. If you will send your details to the Treasurer we will add you to the list and keep you posted of how we are going.
As part of the work for Club Mark accreditation the Club has set up a School Link Officer and he has visited the 7 primary school that feed South Craven College and given 3 Kwik Cricket coaching sessions at each school. A Kwik Cricket Tournament between the 7 Primary Schools is planned for Tuesday 18th September starting at 1.30 pm. There will be approximately 70 pupils taking part and we hope to see a good number of parents; hotdogs and refreshments are to be provided and hopefully we will have a very entertaining afternoon. I hope that you can find time to join us, everyone is welcome.

Les,
Thank you for the invitation to join as a social member, unfortunately I am unable to take advantage of the offer. I must also admit that I did not notice the offer until today, a little too late to make the 18th of September game. However, this appeal has languished in the dark pages of this site and to have the desired effect it needs to be brought to the attention of the people in the village who are wondering what to do woth their hard earned money. Christmas is a time for giving, what better than instead of spending it on something that will be shut away in a cupboard or discarded after a few days, MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO A WORTHWHILE CAUSE THAT WILL BENEFIT MANY. How about it Sutton as Les says, "everyone is welcome."

Alan,
Good to see that you are still interested and again thanks for your cheque.
The Kwik Cricket Festival was a roaring success as reported in the Craven Herald and on the Village website and raised approx. £100. At the end of the season a 'Dads vs Lads' cricket match was well sponsored and raised over £400 thanks to the efforts of the U15's Captain. The Club continues to move forward, has strengthened its management structure, is about to send a five year Development Plan to the Yorkshire Cricket Board, is well on the way to applying for accreditation for Club Mark status and is looking forward to next season with three junior teams planned for the Upper Airedale Junior League. (We had two in 2007)
The Tea Room roof is in a very bad state and the decision has been made to repair the roof and refurbish the inside as a temporary measure until the funds can be raised for the 'proper job'.
We are again appealing for people to become Social Members for 2008 season (at a fee of £5) as a continuation of the work started this year and would welcome you joining us if that is possible.
May I send you Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year and hope that you will contiue to see the increased activity from Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club in 2008.

Great to read about Sutton Cricket Club.
I am now in my 70s and living over the border in Lancashire.
I was the first team scorer in the late 1940s and remember dragging the heavy bag to Nelson ( where I now live ), Gargave, Embsay, Eastburn, Cononley, Glusburn and other points of the compass !!!.
I remember players like Frank Barrett, Fred Miller, Fred Dickinson and Clifford Gill.
I hope the club thrives and if anyone would like to get in touch and share memories, I would love to hear from them.
