Ernest Towers

From Mike Towers:

My father, Ernest Towers, aged 94, died at Sutton Hall Nursing Home on the 15 August with the funeral set for Tuesday 1 Sep at St Thomas Church.

The whole of his life (apart from War Service) was spent in either Cross Hills or Sutton where he lived in King Edward Street for over 50 yrs and worked at T & M Bairstows as a mill mechanic. During the 1950's he was known for playing the Dame in Glusburn New Field Players, a group set up to fund the purchase and development of the Glusburn Cricket Field, and later in the mid 1960's as a founder member of the Sutton Art Club.

I appreciate that there are probably few of his contemporaries still resident of Sutton but any who knew him are welcome to attend the funeral service.

Sympathies and condolences to you Michael and to your sister Shirley. We were your neighbours in King Edward Street for a long time and therefore knew your dad and mum very well.
