Postal address
Tonight again we are informed on the national news that the West Riding of Yorkshire has the highest crime record in this country, the fact that the North Riding of Yorkshire has the lowest amount of crime in this country again makes me raise the fact that the postal address we have at present should read Nr Skipton North Yorkshire.

Couldn't agree more. Ludicrous that the tentacles of Keighley stretch as far as the Bay Horse at Snaygill!

I'm confused.

The village is geographically closer to Keighley and the crime figures are independent of that fact.

What is the logic in moving the postal address to a smaller town further away?

When the borders of the old West Riding were set out there were some in Sutton who wanted our village to be to be placed in the Bradford Metropolitan area but the majorty were glad we were placed in North Yorkshire.
We maybe geographically closer to Keighley as the crow flies but the postal address would indicate that we are closer to an industrial area rather than a much more attractive market town area which reflects in the property prices, making Sutton-in-Craven a deal cheaper when buying property which must benefit people wanting to live here.

Gerrymandering at its finest, the crime rate shouldn't have any bearing on the postal demarcation lines.

If Keighley had lower crime rates than Skipton would you still hold the same view?

It reminds me very much of how the people of Eton and Windsor bleat that they have a Slough postcode when the reality is they are small towns about 800 yds away from the much larger town of Slough at the other end of a short river bridge.

The BD postcode extends beyond Settle and in many cases, insurance costs are governed
by it and related to the Bradford crime rate.
