Any budding archaeologists?
Posted on behalf of Chris Mace

Dear All,

Watershed Landscape, part of Pennine Prospects, are carrying out various archaeological investigations in the area studying the industrial past.

We are working with groups on Todmorden Moor, Baildon Moor and in your area Oxenhope Moor. As leader for Oxenhope Moor I am carrying out a survey of old quarry workings. As this is a community archaeology project we are providing training in basic archaeological survey skills for interested volunteers. We aim to teach how to survey landscapes, buildings, etc by hand without expensive kit so groups like yours would have members able to carry out projects of your own in the future.

Have you several members who are willing to give up a day a week to be involved in ongoing archaeological work relevant to the Keighley area in the next few weeks?

For more details pleas contact cemace@hotmail.co.uk

Yours

Chris Mace

Hi Jackie, I'm not aware of anyone by the name Casson in the village and a search of the published electoral register doesn't show anyone by that name in BD20. If anyone else can help I'm sure they will post here.

I thought that there might be a connection. Alec and I and indeed Joyce used to be quite friendly 60 years ago, but we lost touch after they left Eastburn [Sun Street wasn't it?] I hope they are still keeping well. Perhaps you might give me their address through Paul.

Hello Jack,
Number 2 Pickles jumping on the bandwagon. Where is brother George now? He and I were friends at Council School and thereafter. I lost touch when I was called up for National Service. I've often wondered what happened to him. Does he still live in Sutton?

Hi, Jack Morrison. Don't know if I have right family or not but my great grandmother was Lizzie Dowell Casson Clague, from Cockermouth. My grandmother was Esther Clague and she married Fred Walker. My mother is their daughter, June Dowell Walker. June married Alec Hardcastle and emigrated to Australia in 1956 with their three children.June had a brother Gerald.I am the second child of June and Alec. June is still living but Alec died in 1980.The Clagues lived in West Lane Sutton in Craven. Hope this is of some help to you I stumbled on this website as I am attempting to do my family history. Regards Elizabeth.
