I remember Jimmy Swan well - but he wasn't always nice and friendly, he had a nasty bite! I lived in King Edward Street and the allotments on the photos were directly across the road. Behind these was ' The cut ' which was the water inlet from the beck to the dam and a good place to feed Jimmy - when he was in the mood!

Those are great photos of the mill Tony. The mill was my place of employment for many years from 1954 - and, Nikki - my boss in the Burling and Mending was - Frank Barrett.

INCREDIBLE pictures Tony of Bairstow’s and the Sutton Mill area. I didn’t realise that such old photos of the mill exist.

I’m intrigued with the first image and how this aerial photograph was taken, maybe from a hot-air balloon?

Fascinating viewing
