The Glyn Whiteoak Collection
1st November 2010

With grateful thanks to Rachel Simpson nee Whiteoak and Richard Whiteoak for sharing their father's collection of old photographs of Sutton people and places.

Glyn Whiteoak was born on 30th June 1941 in Swallownest, Sheffield in the back bedroom of his Grandma's house, he was brought up in Sutton where he spent the rest of his life.

He married Linda in September 1967 and went on to have two children Richard and then Rachel. His interests were geneology and local history and his beloved guitar which he played everyday and he also had a joint allotment with his Dad Leslie. He was also part of the Black Bull annual trip to York which was great for his kids as he always brought them a present back.

Glyn sadly died on 14th December 1986 and his wish was to have his ashes scattered up at the Ravenstones where he could always look over Sutton.
