Bank Foot Farm 1984

With thanks to Dick Hodgson for the photographs and Robin Longbottom for the scans and notes.

Bank Foot Farm

Bank Foot Farm, West Lane, Sutton prior to its sale in 1984, which brought an end to its life as a working farm. Within a few years the barn on the right would be converted into a dwelling.

Bank Foot Farm

Ted Lister and his wife, Florence, outside their front door at Bank Foot, just before they sold up in the Summer of 1984. For those that walked regularly up Lumb Clough, through the farmyard and down West Lane, Ted would be and still is sadly missed. It was vitually impossible to pass the door and not be spotted by Ted who would stop whatever he was doing and chat for twenty minutes or so.

Bank Foot Farm

Ted and Florence Lister sitting on the yard wall, 1984. The old iron kissing gate can just be made out on the extreme right, sadly it was soon to be removed and replaced by a wooden climb over style. Also missing from the scene today is Bairstow's Mill, which can be seen just to the left of Florence.
