Gwen Towers at the Munitions Factory
("Steeton Dump"), 1945

With thanks to Mike Towers for the scans and notes.

Below are five photos I hold in my late mother's personal effects. Her name was Gwen Towers and she lived in Sutton-in-Craven.

She appears in the photos as follows: -

Photo 1 front row second left next to lady with tie
Photo 2 front row extreme right
Photo 3 Front row of ladies next to end on right with her hand in her pocket
Photo 4 middle front row
Photo 5 does not appear!

Photos 1-3 are 8x6 and the others 5¼ x 3¼. All are stamped on the rear as having been taken by W Speight, Keighley.

Photo 3 also says, "size as sample" cost 2/6, half size 1/8 and Post Card -/10. I presume that half size was the 8x6. If supplied in folders the cost rose to 5/-, 3/- and 1/6 respectively.

I have no information as to any of the names of the people shown other than that in Photo 1 mum has recorded that the lady in white on the right of the front row is called "Jenny". This photo is also marked by mum as having been taken on the 9 Feb 1945 and presumably all were taken at the same time.
